The NEUBIE (Neuro-Bio-Electric) is a Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) Device. It works by sending electrical impulses through electrode pads on the skin that cause muscle contractions.
These impulses are delivered to neuromuscular tissue that mimic your nervous system’s natural communication through action potentials. The impulses communicate with your sensory and motor neurons to activate contractile muscle fibers and 1a/1b afferents.
This activation is used in training with NMES, and leads to an adaption of your cells in muscles, blood vessels, and nerves which can result in long-term changes over time and supplement your normal training capabilities.
In training with the NEUBIE, you use a process called Neuromuscular Re-education to create new movement patterns. In some cases, this is to restore normal patterns which have gotten out of whack due to compensatory movements or injury (which we will address in this course as part of preparing for training), but it can also be used to accelerate your training outcomes by facilitating the communication between your muscles and nerves with your brain about where, when and how fast to move.
Increasing Longevity & Efficiency of Sport
With age and wear and tear, joint issues and compensatory patterns become more prominent.
Warm Up with NEUBIE
• Inefficient firing
• Firing the right muscles and activating muscles that may not be firing properly • Priming the body with the NEUBIE significantly reduces risk for injury, time needed for warm up, and overall energy expenditure
Working with the NEUBIE
• Can reduce the load necessary to achieve the desired results
- Reduces the wear and tear on the joints.
- 60%output to start when training with the NEUBIE
- Saves time. Training sessions can be completed in 35-45 mins compared to
traditional training 2.5 hour trainings - Decrease inflammation
• Joint function
• Muscles may be loading incorrectly due to inefficient muscle firing and joint compensation
• Specific adaptations to imposed demand
• Training efficiently will lead to increased performance
IMPORTANCE OF POST-NEUBIE RECOVERY
Working with the NEUBIE is a powerful experience! Training with the NeuFit System often challenges your muscles more than traditional resistance training, providing similar levels of muscle load as if you had lifted much heavier weights. As you recover from this treatment or training session, we wanted to share a few important strategies that are going to help maximize your recovery, keep you safe, and improve the outcomes of your NeuFit experience
GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK
Your NeuFit session burned more calories and stressed more muscle tissue than a standard therapy session or gym workout. Your body needs time to replenish that energy and rebuild its muscles and other tissues. Please consider limiting other intense training for the next 24-48 hours.
DRINK LOTS OF WATER
Clean water helps flush our systems of waste products and other toxins, yet many people go through life dehydrated—causing tiredness, low energy, and reduced performance. Dehydration also impairs the body’s ability to recover from training, so we urge you to drink at least 1 oz of water per pound of body weight on the day of your NeuFit session and again the day after.
EAT HEALTHY FOOD
Nutrient-rich food gives you energy to keep your heart beating, your brain active, and your muscles working. Nutrients from food also provide the raw materials to rebuild and strengthen your bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments, so that you come back stronger for your next session.
Though we all like to indulge sometimes, alcohol impairs your ability to recover from your workouts. It can be dehydrating, taxes your organs, and has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis by 20%. Limiting your alcohol consumption will allow you to stay hydrated and recover quicker so more of that workout will actually go towards healing an injury or rebuilidng your muscles!
