When your nervous system is optimized, you have energy and vitality, easily and quickly heal from injury, and perform at your highest level. Sometimes, the challenges of life take you off course and out of this natural state. By working with your nervous system, NeuFit can help you find exactly where any problems may exist and quickly address them, helping you access your optimal state...

The Neubie (“Neuro-bio-electric Stimulator”) is our FDA-cleared electrical stimulation device, with two main differences compared to existing technology. These differences allow us to use the Neubie within the NeuFit System to improve outcomes for athletes and patients in a wide range of situations.
The first difference is that it uses Direct Current as opposed to Alternating Current. The therapeutic benefits of DC, particularly on tissue healing, have been known for many years. But there had always been a limitation because DC would also burn the skin. Our device offers a solution to this problem, using a combination of waveforms that includes a carrier frequency that enables the DC signal to penetrate the skin and fatty layers of tissue and penetrate to where it’s needed to have a meaningful effect.
The second difference has to do with its effect on the neuromuscular system. The Neubie has a unique combination of frequencies and waveforms that reduce the protective contractions normally seen with traditional e-stim units. At a therapeutic level of current, where an AC device would cause the body to lock up and be unable to move, our device still permits patients to actively move and allows us to combine it with a rich library of movement protocols. This effect allows us to emphasize eccentric contractions, amplify the sensory/afferent inputs to the nervous system, and create an
opportunity for accelerated neuromuscular re-education.
What issues can we  treat using the experience we have for almost 2 decades with our methods combined with with the Neubie & NeuFit Method?

Is the Neubie Device cleared by the FDA?

Yes, the Neubie is FDA-cleared as a Class-2 medical device. Because it can go up to the maximum power allowed by law, it also requires a prescription or the supervision of a licensed practitioner.

The Neubie is indicated for:

  • Maintaining or increasing range of motion

  • Increasing local blood circulation

  • Neuromuscular Re-education

  • Preventing atrophy

  • Reducing spasms

  • Preventing venous thrombosis after surgery

  • Management or relief of chronic pain

  • Management of post-surgical and post-traumatic acute pain

It is also contraindicated in patients who have a cardiac pacemaker or are pregnant.

Our focus is to help enhance the natural processes our bodies use to recover and heal, whether it’s from an injury or surgery. Since it is our nervous system that controls every muscle movement, that is where we began when we started exploring new ways to improve the efficiency, quality, and speed of rehabilitation. Welcome to the NeuFit® Method, featuring the patented Neubie® electrical stimulation device; harnessing the power of our nervous system to improve outcomes.

How you respond to the original trauma your body suffered determines how quickly you recover from an injury or surgery. Recovery time is often so long because the brain and nervous system send signals to guard and protect the site of the trauma. Blood flow can be impeded, reducing the body’s ability to rebuild. Signals from the brain to prevent movement can make that area of the body more vulnerable. With our Method, we  can identify exactly where those neurological barriers are located, and then break through them with proper biomechanics analysis and  the FDA-cleared Neubie® device. Putting you on a faster road to recovery.

Pain is neurologically based. We experience pain in our brain, not our body. And when our brain perceives a threat, it sends out a signal that we recognise  as pain. Sometimes, that pain lingers long after an injury is healed or surgically repaired. Like the acute pain caused by an injury or in the aftermath of surgery, the root of chronic pain can be safely targeted and stimulated with neuromuscular re-education using electrical signals.

Is the Neubie a TENS unit?

The Neubie is not a TENS unit. Part of what makes the Neubie unique is the fact that it utilizes direct current and its other technical specifications.

By using direct current (DC) rather than alternating current (AC), the Neubie maximizes the potential for neuromuscular re-education and improved neurophysiological function. When you turn up a TENS unit or other traditional e-stim device, the patient will typically have protective co-contractions that promote inefficient movement patterns and can limit the effectiveness of the intervention. With the unique waveform of the Neubie, you can minimize those protective contractions and provide higher levels of sensory, or afferent, input.

There is also some evidence that DC can promote tissue healing and repair. Whereas the AC signal in traditional devices creates electric fields that switch direction many times per second, direct current sustains an electric field in one direction for a longer period of time. This electric field can orient—and possibly increase—the activity of cells that repair and regenerate all types of tissues, including bone, muscle, and connective tissue.

Besides using direct current, the Neubie’s waveforms have been engineered to reduce resistance and irritation to the skin, along with the discomfort associated with electric charge accumulation (which often occurs with traditional direct current devices).

How does our methods combined with NeuFit  help improve fitness & performance?

Let’s start with the neuroscience

It’s possible to activate increased strength just by tapping into the abilities that lay dormant in our body. In response to experiences, our brain and nervous system adapt and change to form new patterns and set new limits to protect us. Occasionally, however, these limits are set too conservatively. Changing, fixing, or resetting these patterns of connections is called neuroplasticity, and it’s a fast-growing field of study. Our nervous system is hugely important to muscle function, movement, and pain. Think of it as the control system of our body.

Tech for our bodies
By harnessing the power of our nervous system, our  Methods can help to restore, achieve, and sustain peak physical performance. One way it does this is by safely training the neurological skill of enhanced muscle recruitment. This boost can help to restore and increase strength, as well as lead to muscle hypertrophy. Additionally, electrical stimulation can be an effective tool for recovering from fatigue or injury and can be incorporated into a fitness routine to enhance overall physical performance and longevity.

Maintaining or increasing muscle mass
Recent studies on the Neubie have shown that it can help build muscle in ways that are similar to lifting weights, but without having to lift as much weight and the associated risks of injury (or re-injury). In addition, many studies show that maintaining muscle mass helps humans age more gracefully, helping with hormones, inflammation, and with preventing falls or protecting from the risks of injury in a fall.

NEUBIE Training with us

The NEUBIE (Neuro-Bio-Electric) is a Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) Device. It works by sending electrical impulses through electrode pads on the skin that cause muscle contractions. These impulses are delivered to neuromuscular tissue that mimic your nervous system’s natural communication through action potentials.

The impulses communicate with your sensory and motor neurons to activate contractile muscle fibers and 1a/1b afferents. This activation is used in training with NMES, and leads to an adaption of your cells in muscles, blood vessels, and nerves which can result in long-term changes over time and supplement your normal training capabilities.

In training with the NEUBIE, you use a process called Neuromuscular Re-education to create new movement patterns. In some cases, this is to restore normal patterns which have gotten out of whack due to compensatory movements or injury (which we will address in this course as part of preparing for training), but it can also be used to accelerate your training outcomes by facilitating the communication between your muscles and nerves with your brain about where, when and how fast to move.

The Science of the NEUBIE for Hypertrophy Training

In sports medicine and training, NMES devices like the NEUBIE have been used for muscle strengthening, maintenance of muscle mass and strength during prolonged periods of immobilization, selective muscle retraining, and the control of swelling.

Muscles have two fiber types - type I and II. In typical training, type I will fire first, and then type II. NMES training causes the type II muscle fibers to activate more quickly. This is beneficial to training as type II have a higher specific force than type I, and their earlier activation increases the overall strengthening of muscles.

NMES combined with training is more effective than either alone

• Greater induction of muscular adaptations
• Improved performance of complex dynamic movements
• Accelerates recovery of muscle contractility and functional abilities
• Generates neuromuscular adaptations while allowing adjustment of motor control

in voluntary movement

You will:

• Learn to move better, more quickly, and more safely when they can feel muscles activated
• Be able to hit the right types of muscle fibers to get bigger and stronger, faster

• Contract muscles harder than the brain does on its own and with lighter weights

By training with the NEUBIE, you will be able to progressively improve their nervous systems to activate more and more muscle many times faster than they can do in the gym on their own, and with a fraction of the weight, which will keep their joints healthy and improve their longevity in the gym.

Countering the negative effects of stress
Numerous studies tell us about the consequences of excessive stress. Stress wears our bodies down–it drains us. And sometimes, you literally need to recharge it back up or do a simple reset. It leads to so many of the health issues we face in modern society: dysregulated blood pressure, GI problems, anxiety or diminishing mental health, impaired sexual function, chronic pain, and more. Our bodies are both chemical and electrical, yet, most treatment focuses on just the chemical. Doing the Master Reset with the Neubie has been shown to help shift the body out of the sympathetic (“fight-or-flight”) side of the nervous system and into the parasympathetic (“rest-and-digest”) side, which supports effective digestion of food, cleansing of wastes, rebuilding of the body’s tissues, improved brain function and mental health, and more.

Can this help with recovery from stroke/ spinal cord injury/ traumatic brain injury?

It depends on the situation. Harnessing the NEUBIE’s capacity for neuromuscular re-education, the NeuFit System combined with our biomechanics  has helped some people recover from these challenges in order to restore function. In some cases that recovery has meant slight increases in balance, movement, or the ability to complete activities of daily living. In a few cases it has been as dramatic as helping people get out of wheelchairs and walk again. There are many factors that affect a person’s recovery potential, so unfortunately NeuFit will not be helpful in all cases. If you or someone you know is dealing with one of these challenges, we encourage you to reach out to us Ohana performance institute  directly to discuss your situation.

Can this help with MS?

Although the Neubie device is not indicated to treat M.S., the NeuFit System has been able to help some people with M.S. manage their symptoms and improve quality of life. The NEUBIE device is able to reduce spasms, increase range of motion, improve circulation, prevent atrophy, and provide neuromuscular re-education. With the NeuFit protocols, this combination has enabled some people with M.S. to improve function, become more mobile, and return to activities that had become challenging or impossible.

Can Neufit help with my injury?

Well, it depends. Fortunately, the NeuFit System combined with our biomechanics knowledge and experience  is able to help most of the people who use it. Coupled with the NEUBIE device’s ability to re-educate muscles, increase blood flow, improve range of motion, prevent atrophy, decrease spasms, and relieve or manage pain, the NeuFit system has helped many people recover from sports injuries and various traumas and surgeries. Of course there are times when therapy and rehab strategies aren’t enough, and more serious interventions are necessary. If something is completely torn, for example, surgery may be the best solution. The good news is that NeuFit is non-invasive and very safe. Because of the low risks, it is often worth trying as a conservative strategy before considering more serious and invasive interventions like surgery and injections.

Is the Neubie safe for me?

The NEUBIE is FDA-cleared and considered safe as long as it is used within the appropriate guidelines. For example, it is contraindicated for people who have a pacemaker or are pregnant.  If you have any questions about your particular situation, please consult your medical professional.
