For decades the advice after a concussion or brain injury was rest - a dark, quiet room until symptoms passed. That advice has been overturned. Carefully dosed exercise, kept just below the intensity that provokes symptoms, is now one of the better-supported treatments for the headaches, dizziness and low mood that linger after a brain injury, and prolonged rest is understood to slow recovery rather than speed it. The key word is 'dosed': this is exercise as a prescription with a threshold and a supervisor, not a green light to train through symptoms.
