Biceps Tendinitis: Why It Is Rarely Just the Biceps, and How It Progresses From Irritation to Rupture

Pain at the front of the shoulder that bites on pressing, curling or reaching overhead is usually labelled biceps tendinitis, and the label is half right. The long head of the biceps tendon is very often the structure that hurts. It is much less often the structure that is wrong. Understanding why explains both how the condition develops and why rubbing the sore spot rarely fixes it.
