The coaching story is familiar: weak glutes let the knee cave inwards on a squat or a landing, weak abdominals let the pelvis tip and the lower back arch under a bar, and the resulting movement fault is where injury starts. It is a tidy causal chain, and the knee-cave version of it has been tested more than any other. The evidence is more divided than the story.
