Exercise makes free radicals. Vitamin C neutralises free radicals. Therefore vitamin C should protect muscle, speed recovery and let you train harder. That chain of reasoning has sold a great deal of ascorbic acid over forty years, and the interesting thing about the trial evidence is how cleanly it separates the parts of the chain that hold from the parts that do not.
