There is a persistent frustration in fitness: people train hard for months, lose less weight than expected, and conclude that exercise does not work for fat loss. In one narrow sense they are right - the weight lost through exercise alone is consistently smaller than the arithmetic predicts. But the frustration comes from asking exercise to do the job it is worst at. Its actual strength shows up later, in the phase almost nobody plans for, where most weight-loss attempts quietly fail.
