The diet wars ran for two decades on the question of which macronutrient ratio loses the most fat. The randomised trials that fought it out are now old enough to have long follow-ups, and the meta-analyses that pooled them are large. The answer is not the one either camp wanted: over a year, the ratio barely matters for the scale. Where it does matter is what the lost weight is made of.
