Exercise is a poor way to lose a lot of weight and an excellent way to change what the body is made of. That distinction is the key to using it well in obesity. The question is not whether to move but which kind of movement - aerobic, resistance or both - does the most for fat, muscle, waist and metabolic health, and how much of it is needed.
